That is why I would not have amnio -- too much of a risk to the baby in my mind. If there was a serious concern during one of my pregnancies then I would have to weight the risks vs. the benefits of amnio. but I wouldn't automatically rule out having it done.
As for this:

I'm not sure I understand why that's problematic for you. I think we all do that to some extent all the time when we have to make decisions regarding our medical treatment.
