I was told that ash is better at covering gray than the golden tones. I use the Ion stuff at Sally's too, it's comparable to the Miss Clairol but it's cheaper.

I like the golden tones because it makes my gray look like gold highlights.

Also developer is perishable and does not last forever, so buying the big bargain bottle is no bargain unless you can share it with someone - does anyone know its shelf life?
