I thought the recipe was 4:1.
Here is a recipe I looked up online. I have to admit. I do add a small amount of red color in sometimes. I have made it without and the birds like it either way.
Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups water
Directions
1 Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
2 Boil for 2 minutes.
3 Cool completely.
4 DO NOT add food coloring to water!
5 Fill your hummingbird feeder and keep remaining feeding solution in the refrigerator up to one week.
