Jujubee, most any type of carnival, agricultural fair, street fair, amusement park, etc that has food vendors have corn dogs. One of the best corn dogs I ever had came from a vendor at a flea market of all places!
Please don't let a freezer corn dog take your "corn dog virginity". The experience might be enough to sour you on corn dogs for life. Nuked dogs out of the freezer are nasty. Frozen dogs cooked in the oven will do to get a die hard corn dog lover like me thru a long winter when there are no fairs in sight, but it's not even close to the same.
The best way to embrace the world of the corn dog is to get one fresh and hot, right out of the fryer. Now if you have a deep fryer and want to make your own, that's pretty darn close to the fair experience.
Not to be nosy jujubee, but where are you located? I wonder if corndogs are a regional thing and not as common in some places as in others. I know candy apples are like that, I've known several people that live west of the Mississippi who had no idea what a candy apple was until they came to the North. Caramel apples yes, candy apples, no.
