Questions for parents with kids in college already...

My son will be leaving for college in a little over a month. He'll only be about three hours away so I know if he forgets anything he'll be able to come home to get it. I was wondering what do you need for a college dorm room? Obviously he'll need a comforter, towels, etc... Because he's a music major and had auditions, he didn't find out where he was going until April. He still hasn't found out who his roomate is going to be or what dorm he's going to be in. He should find out next week. It's all so last minute...most of my friend's kids found all of this out way back in January. My son seems to think it's no big deal getting all of this "stuff" together for college. We need to go out and pick some things up before it's all picked over and there's nothing left. Should I just not worry about and say, "Oh well, if you don't want to get it, then tough luck. You won't have anything then." It seems like with my son's friends who are girls, they all have to have coordinating comforters and things for their rooms. Could guys just care less? At this point, maybe I should just wait for the sales at Target when the college dorm things go 30% off. Does anyone have a list of things that they will definitely need for college? Thanks! ~Lisa
