Matching stuff for most guys is not only unnecessary, but embarrassing! Other than bedding, bathroom products, and laundry stuff there isn't much he really has to have. A lot of kids like to have a dorm fridge (if they are allowed). Otherwise, it's mostly electronics stuff -- which, if you ask me, is not necessary.

He's a big boy now. Let him choose whether to worry about it or not and suffer the consequences if he's made a mistake.
