I don't do it but Alpine Access is a good company and is flexible. You set your own hours (even middle of the night). You take customer service calls for companies. You are self employed (thus self employement taxes) but you get to write off your internet, phone, etc. You need a land line though. They don't allow you to run it off a cell. It's about $10 an hour last time I checked (I went through the interview process and then decided not to go through with it because I couldn't guarantee my hours 24 in advance since I had a small baby at the time).
Besides cutting back, you can take your clothes to consignment shops to get extra $$$, have your kids mow lawns or pick weeds or babysit. Not sure how old all of your kids are but once they hit 12 or 13, they can contribute to the household money when times are lean. I pick a friends child up from school during the school year (we do school of choice so no bus) and she pays me some $$$ (even though I tell her I would do it for free). A lot of people will pay for before school care or after school care at a friends house instead of paying a daycare (at least people I know).
