Note to Duchess, the Dalmation:
Awww, poor doggie, I know you you feel! Duchess, you must have hurt your back, sweet baby. Because lately I too have had back problems. DISC problems you see. The doctor said I have a couple of herniated and bulging discs and they have ruptered, meaning some of the squishy gel in them has squished out. It is in my lowest part of my back, near the tailbone. The doctor told me that if I suddenly lost control of my bladder, or bowels, that it meant that the bulge had begun to press very hard upon a bundle of nerves down there. Duchess, when you were chasing your ball, or scratching your ear, perhaps you made a disc bulge and this is what has happened to you. Sweet doggie, I know you are hurting. A simple operation can fix this problem, a matter of simply moving that bundle of nerves over and removing part of the bulging disc. Duchess, hang in there, girl! I pray your mommy and daddy can find a way to get you some help. I am sure that kind Dr. Vet, the nice doctor who takes care of you, can help you out and put your human mommy on some kind of payment plan. No doggie doctor would want you to suffer anyways! Take care, Duchess, and stay still. Rest. No chasing the ball for a few weeks, okay! And be a sweet girl, as I know you are. ;-)
Note to the OP, Duchess: Duchess your post has left me feeling so sad........ I read the bottom post and saw you've had some tests done, it sure does look like a disc problem. I have to have a spinal fusion surgery---a DOUBLE spinal fusion, ugh!----- so I know what your 4 legged loved one is going through. I'm glad your vet is helping-- awesome! My doctor tells me to take it easy! No lifting, no yard work, no sudden movements, haha, but for a dog, they have a whole different life....... I guess, for Duchess, she needs to just be calm, not move a lot. Let the inflammation of the bulging disc go down. Duchess, maybe steroids would help---they helped me a lot at one time before my problem got BAD---please ask your vet about that. They will reduce the inflammation. A spinal block is maybe also something you could ask about? I guess they could do that for a dog, right? I've had it done a couple of times, blocked the pain for months.... good luck to you guys!
