I absolutely love these birds. They're sandhill cranes and, while we see them from time to time, it's not a daily or even weekly event.

Dad was the biggest of the group measuring in around 4 feet tall. He kept a close eye on me while Mrs. Crane and the kids walked around.



Here he is with one of the juveniles.



At one point he even started to approach me. That was very cool. I guess he finally found me boring though. I think he's yawning in this photo.



After about 20 minutes I left the family alone to enjoy their day.



They really are the most awesome birds!
