Just finished *The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo* & *The Girl Who Played with Fire* this weekend. Could not put these books down! Bought the first one on Friday, finished it by early Sun. morning (yes, I read fast, but I was totally engrossed in the book). After I finished it I ran to Target to do something I rarely do, buy the hardcover of the second book, and I finished it on Monday.
Can't wait till the third one, *The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest* is published.
They're by Steig Larsson, translated from Swedish.
I felt like standing up and cheering when I finished each book. They're about a lot of things, international finance and financial reporting, security in the digital age, child sex trade, magazine and news publishing, Swedish life, all kinds of abuses perpetrated on women, and so much more. The main characters are the same in each book, you get a lot more of the background on them in the second book.
Am currently reading a book I picked up at a thrift shop, *The Ladies Auxillary* by Tova Mirvis, and it's another good one. It's a fascinating look into orthodox Jewish life for modern women in Memphis.
