When my kids were younger, my hubby was always paranoid that they would do just what yours is doing.
So we made it so there was no chance of it happening. Finally took it down when they were between 3-4.
We had this kiddie gate type thing that we put around the TV. It was octagon shaped. Then they couldn't reach the TV. A lot like this one.
