op, you state that "he climbs things and breaks things regularly". This is where your focus should be, on his unacceptable behaviour, not on buying a new electronic item(s) and trying to protect the items from your son.

He needs to stop climbing, and stop breaking things. He needs to learn respect and boundaries. I can't believe he did this when an adult was in the room, seems he needs more supervision. You start with no and as another poster, said, punishment. Choose it, then adhere to it.

The time to stop this behaviour is now.
