Oh, I don't disagree. I think the teacher displayed an error in judgment. I don't think President Obama had anything to do with or endorsed what the teacher did. In fact, I want to think that he was exasperated when this came out.
It is just creepy that there are people who would worship a politician (whether it's the current president or former presidents!).
