I have to admit, when I was a cashier, I was annoyed when people just plopped their basket down and didn't take the things out of it. (I guess the thought of "Come on, it's just 8 items" goes both ways.) I would have never said anything about it, though, and certainly wouldn't have made a customer take the things out. It was just a private grumbling in my mind.
