I remember sometimes the baskets wouldn't always trigger the automatic belt to stop and the basket would get caught up in my cashier's terminal, so that was an annoyance if I wasn't quick enough to turn off the belt. It was also more of a strain on my hands and wrists to pick things up out of the baskets than to just slide them across the scanner from the belt. I'm sure some of my annoyance was also unfounded, though.
