• They have that whole inside flap space to print the code.
• They choose to use letters and numbers that are near identical.
• They use a very poor quality code printer.
• They stick it to the consumer with 'expirable' points.

Imagine the amount of time they allocation in dealing with problems with customers' codes not working, etc.
Outrageous!
