I didn't write this...let me clarify that up front so I don't have people getting their panties in a wad...Anyway, thought Phillies fans out there would like it...My sister in law sent it to me tonight... ~Lisa
‘Twas the night before the Series, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The pennants were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes a Big Win soon would be there.
The fans were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Grand Slams danced in their heads.
And mamma in her Phil’s Shirt, and I in my Phil’s cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long pre-game nap.
When on the TV there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the Flatscreen I flew like a gnat,
Rushed for the Remote to watch Comcast sportsnet.
The room was aglow with a new Phillies show
Talk of spanking the Yankees made everyone glow,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a smart baseball manager with eight players and no fear.
With a little old manager, so lively and quick,
I knew it was Chollie, talking his shtick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
“Now Rollins! Now Victorino! Now Utley and Howard!
On Jay Werth! On Raul! On Feliz and Ruiz!
To the top of the Yankee stadium!
Over the center field wall!
Now Hit away!
Hit away!
Hit away all!”
“Happy World Series to all, and to all a good-night!”
Go Phils.
