Years ago my mom made pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving, and she couldn't figure out why they were such an odd color. She called me and asked me all sorts of questions (now mind you she has made pies forever) so I ran down the list of ingredients....till I got to the evaporated milk. She gasped.....she completely forgot to add it. No one ate the odd green pumpkin pies, but to this day we still kid her about it.
