New Bathroom

Our bathroom was 50 years old... Pink ceramic tile... cast iron tub... You get the picture. Last Wednesday, we hired someone to replace it. We ran around all weekend looking for components. We decided on a white Kohler jacqusi tub with a heater, matching toilet, and sink. Beige ceramic tile for the floor, and a much lighter beige ceramic tile for the walls around the tub.

Would you put a pattern in the tile surrounding the tub or just go with plain tile? Do you have a shower head you love? How about a soap dish? would you get a ceramic one implanted in the tile around the tub or hang one from the shower head? Ugh! I never realized there were so many choices!

Oh! Did I mention they did the demolition work on our old bathroom today? The tub will be installed on Wednesday. I'd appreciate any help you might offer with these decisions...

I had a ceramic soap dish installed. I also had a small corner shelf added higher up for the shower. I'm sorry I did not have 2 corner shelves added, as one was not enough.
I bought a suction cup shelf and sometimes it releases suction and the items fall into the tub. I would not want anything hanging from the shower-head.

It sounds like a nice border just above the tub and at the top would fill in nicely. I'm thinking of something basic like a ivy border.

Thanks so much for the suggestion about the soap dish! I had been debating on those corner shelves. I like the idea... My husband says... just hang something from the shower head... nah! We're going with the shelves.

Now to decide one small stripe or two... The guy at the tile store says one at a height of about 5 feet. I think if i go with one, I'd like to see it lower.

Tile to the ceiling or at shower height? First I thought shower height... Now I'm thinking ceiling. The house was built in 1903. What do you think?

The guy who did the tile in our bathroom did the tile to the ceiling, plus he tiled the ceiling above the the shower and tub.

Thanks luvdogs! Done. Tile is to shower height with strip about 18" up. Soap dishes just didn't work out. The stone ones sold at the tile store looked way to big for the space. Took them back. New tub leaked into the room downstairs... a small plastic part in the heater/pump compartment was cracked. Kohler is sending a representative out on Wednesday (fingers crossed) to fix it. Ugh! I'm sure at some point in time... I'll be happy I got into all of this.
