I'd like to know when to start seeds in the house. I usually plant garden in mid May, but when do I need to begin the seedlings in the house?

Depends on what zone you are in. I live in midwest, and you really shouldn't plant anything outside before May 10. I got a very late start and didn't plant my mini pumpkins and gourd seeds until mid June. Hopefully we will get a late first frost, like around Oct 1, so they make it until maturity.

I usually do not start my seedlings indoors, but would like to try it sometime.

Our last frost is April 15th but can have a frost as late as May 9th... we start seeds 4 to 8 weeks before we want to plant. Peppers and tomatoes mainly.. We do push the season on chard and kale by transplanting then early March under row cover... hope this helps
