Question about tulips

I bought some tulips @ Home Depot recently. The flowers are starting to die now so I'm wondering when I should plant the bulbs. I live in GA (near Atlanta). And do I cut them all the way down prior to planting? TIA!

You can plant them in the ground now. Don't cut them down. The greens are where they get their nutrition for next year.

the best thing to do you should buy cold treated bulbs in your climate. The foliage will continue to make food for a few to several weeks then die off until the following Spring. Without that period, the bulb will have no resources left to grow and flower again the following year.

Tulips evolved in mountainous regions with snow on the ground. Where temps NEVER get warmer than 60 degrees F. Also Bulbs chilled in a refrigerator with ripening fruit may fail to bloom. The gas (ethylene) produced by ripening fruit can cause the flower buds to abort. Plant bulbs immediately upon removal from cold storage.
I think it may serve you the purpose deenbard...
