I've got to have like, major fleas in my backyard...my poor boys (dogs) are being eaten alive! Any suggestions on what to use to treat the yard? It's almost an acre! This is my first house and I am not sure what's best to use that's safe for my pets..

Have you checked with your Vet? I am sure some of the more experienced members will get back to you on this soon, everybody seems busy this week on here. Just do NOT take anything you can buy at Wal Mart or such on face value, this is the first year I have NOT heard a story on the news of OTC flea and tick treatments having deadly turns on family pets. I had a really bad problem with them last year in an old dog pen and after trying to sell me some expensive stuff I coudln't afford, the Vet said to treat it with Seven Dust and the dog with it - rain does wash it away tho. One poster here suggested "natural" lemon oil, I have had luck with all my outside cats except one with this - I have no idea where she goes. Good luck, I had them soo bad one summer that I could see them jumping around on my husband when he went outside, they are hardy little creeps that is for sure!!

This won't help you now, but maybe in the future. DH sprays the perimeter of the yard with a flea and tick repellent every spring. (Actually, I think what he uses is a dry powder or pellets.) You put it all around the edge or the yard and it really helps to keep fleas and ticks out of the yard.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Check into using Diatomaceous Earth. It will kill fleas outdoors. It is a natural product.
