I have a few pair of pants that about once a year I dye them. I just throw them in the washer with hottest water and follow the directions on the dye package. Depending on what the fabric is it, you may end up with good results or maybe somewhat darker, but not perfect. Jeans are normally 100% cotten, so they should do well. Anyway you have nicer clothes for awhile, until the daye fades out. I normally turn my washer back to agitate about three times, so they things are in the dye bath longer. That makes them darker. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!! |

I was curious one day and tested my tap water with the pool water tester. It's no wonder our clothes fade when washed whether you're using a detergent with bleach or not. I can't taste or smell the chlorine in the tap water but it's there. There's a detergent made for washing dark and/or black clothing. Cheer perhaps?? |

[quote=atey;2819626]I have a few pair of pants that about once a year I dye them. I just throw them in the washer with hottest water and follow the directions on the dye package. I would think twice about the really hot water part, if the jeans fit like you want them to now...If you use the hottest water from your machine, there is a chance your jeans will shrink... I had asked basically this same question a couple of years ago. Several people told me to use the Cheer for dark colors. Don't know as it does a lot of good. I do remember to turn my black & dark denim jeans wrong side out when I put them in the washer. Think that helps a little bit...Of course on the ones that are already faded that won't help. |
