What sites to visit to get ideas for decorating?

Ok, my home is not stylish at all, it is more just functional. I guess I don't really have a stylish sense about me. It was hard even trying to pick out a paint color together with my dh and finally settled on a light bluish color. Other than that, my house isn't really decorated. I wondered where you all look to get ideas of furnished rooms that you really like. It is only myself, dh and our boxer dog and that is it.

Any ideas on where to go to look would be great !!! I just don't really have a budget for hiring a decorator or anything like that.

Watching HGTV is so inspiring!! I am addicted. It has made me try several projects that I would've never taken on had I not watched them do it . They have several shows just about decorating. "Divine Design" by Candice Olsen turns out some beautiful rooms. Also, magazines like Cottage Living have a lot of cute decorating ideas. Sign up for basically any of the free mags on the Freebies site and you should start seeing things that you like. But I'm telling you, you're best bet is HGTV. Martha Stewart is also great. I love her decorating style. Keep us posted on what you decide to try!!

I agree with Ballmom about HGTV. You can go to their website for ideas as well. Also go to Home Depot, Lowes or the library and thumb through all the design magazines. Another source is going to model homes. If there are not any model homes in your area, you can go to some builders websites and look at their virtual tours or room pictures for ideas.

Yes, HGTV is the best way to learn and get great ideas.
MYLES OF STYLE is good.
DESERVING DECORATING is another good one.
CARTER CAN, DESIGNED TO SELL, and DESPERATE (I think) SPACES are all good too.
TLC has TRADING SPACES and some house flipping shows.
The best of luck to you and show us pictures when you are done!

P.S.
Try the library or book stores for decorating books.

Also Real Simple magazine is great and they have a home organizing book I bought and here are the books they recommend

In his illustrated monograph, Billy Baldwin shares his views on taste, furniture placement, and color. A classic.

The Finest Rooms by America’s Great Decorators, edited by Katharine Tweed
(Viking Press, 1964, out of print)
A collection of essays from eight design legends, including Rose Cumming and Michael Taylor.

The Pahlmann Book of Interior Design, by William Pahlmann, revised edition
(Viking Press, 1960, out of print)
In 1959 Pahlmann designed the theme and the decor for New York’s Four Seasons restaurant, which became a design icon. Pahlmann also devised the idea of model rooms for department stores. Inside this must-read book, he divulges his tricks.
