Our dryer is about 11-12 years old. It started acting up, not heating up, but the drum went around just fine. I figured it was time to just buy a new one, rather than pay a repair man probably $90 min to look at it.

Well, dh has a friend who is handy, he discovered it was the breaker for the socket that the dryer was plugged into. I thought , how could that be?? The drum is moving around and it's getting power?? Plus, the washer is plugged in right next to it, wouldn't they be on the same breaker?

Well, I was wrong, the socket was getting half power, that's why the heater was not working but the drum was moving around fine.

Learn something new everyday!! All he did was flip the breaker in the box and it's fine now!! He said if it keeps happening, just replace the breaker or fuse or something.
Saved us a lot of money and thought I would pass it on to you all, could happen to any appliance!
