Recently encountered an auction where everything, including current bids and the seller's previous transactions, were private. Why would a seller not want any buyers to see their previous transactions? And it was not adult-type merchandise.

A very bad feature of ebay that destroys all transparency.

Designed for "adult" listings but misused.

Ebay doesn't care.

Some people used to use it to avoid auction interference. This was back when the bidders full id was listed and another seller could then approach them with an offer.
