Question Anyone else forced to quit selling on ebay due to rates?

I'm not a big time seller, but I have sold for some extra $$ for over 10 years.. I'm sad to see how much they are charging now. It isn't worth me to put my measly few items up anymore. Anyone else forced to quit?

I don't even know what it costs to list on ebay anymore--it's been a couple years for me. What are the rates now?

I stopped selling on ebay about 1.5 years ago after that increase. The new increase has forced out more people and top that with the new higher postal rates and viola...lots less sellers on ebay. I moved to Amazaon 1.5 years ago and like it a lot better (but it is really only for new goods)

I still sell. Not as much or as regularly as I used to but I still throw things into the storage box for those times of year when I *do* list.

The thing that I see as effecting eBay more than the fees (which have not increased in the past year and a half... unless I'm missing something?) is that postage has gone up again.

Also, being summertime has always seemed to effect eBay sales -- at least since I started eBaying 9 years ago.

The higher shipping makes low price items a very poor value for buyers.

I used to sell (for fun & profit) on Ebay throughout the year. And yes, because of the fees (Ebay, PayPal, shipping) I rarely list anything anymore.

Some of the fees don't seem that bad, but they ALL ADD UP. So now I only list things that I want to get out of my house and I don't really care what it sells for.

Ebay stopped being fun.

I would rather pay the shipping prices on EBAY than pay what I am paying for a stinkin gallon of gas! We are over $3.49/gallon now. Talk about scary!

I haven't noticed a price increase at EBAY lately - did there rates go up??

I have quit listing because of their rates they get you coming & going twice once on ebay then on paypal & then with postage increases I finally gave it up.

Here is my post on my store front.

USPS RATE CHANGE, Stores need to edit shipping. These listings have to be manually ended and relisted in order to change the shipping details. I know I lost many watchers due to this eBay program problem. I am sorry but I had no choice but to relist. eBay fees last went up on Jan 30,07, Aug 22,06.

It's not only the rates, it's the shape based pricing that can hurt some sellers of smaller items.

I am not quitting but I am being very selective as to what/how I am putting up for auction. I used to have 15-20 auctions going at a time, maybe only 4 or 5 would sell and I used to start at lower prices. Now I am trying to experiment and put groups of items together, starting at a higher price. In the past week I only posted 3 auctions, but all 3 sold. I am not putting other auctions up unless I have bids on the few that are already going. When the last item had been bid on I put up 2 more auctions, one has a bid, so I will probably post something else tomorrow. They are just not getting a whole bunch of posting fees from me at the moment. I am just experimenting and see how things work out. Pushing out the small time sellers is just causing them to lose listing fees. The thing I am hoping might help sales is the price of gas, maybe people will think to buy off the internet more instead of using their gas to run around to stores or yard sales, saves gas and the hassle?

Does anyone know how craigs list makes money? Since they don't charge for listing?
