question for sellers

I just sold an item (auction closed March 5th) and hadn't received payment yet so I contacted the buyer through ebay and asked when the item would be paid for. She responded that she will pay for it via paypal when she gets paid on April 3rd. Now, I did not specify an amount of time within which the auction had to be paid for (I will from now on!) and I'm not opposed to waiting since this was a fundraiser for a non-profit and we can wait for the $ as long as it comes. She does have 100% positive but is a newbie (registered November 2007) and only has 7 feedback. My real question is - If I wait for April 3rd and she doesn't pay will I still be able to file a NPB or will my time have run out? I've never had to file for anything before so I'm not sure what the procedure is and I don't want to wind up screwed out of my filing fees ($4.50 - which I donated). TIA for any help anyone can give me!

I had to look this up since I couldnt remember how long you have. I always file a dispute if they havent paid or I havent heard from them in 7 days. I will post the link so you can become more familiar with the process.

Unpaid Item Process (Non-paying Bidder or Buyer)

hi

you have 45 days to file for unpaid bidder. so that part is no hurry .
you have to wait 8 days to file or at leastyou can file on the 8th day .
and i always do .

as for your buyer.
since it didnt say but a month is way too long
id write her back and mention that traditonally most ebay auctions expect payment
somewhere between 2 - 7 days.
and can she do any better since this is for a charity .

just keep up the positive polite communication with your customer
and that way she will learn for the future also .

good luck

If you ask me I think if someone bids on an item they should be prepared to pay for it. I think the 7 day rule is so unfair.

I totally agree. Ebay created the 7 day rule because seller cant file NPB until the 8th day. I once had a bidder who waited exactly 7 days! Not sure what their reasoning was but it just seemed funny since my buyers usually pay right after auctions end like me...lol
