Arrow **7/6 ANOTHER UPDATE** Need some help

Okay, it is 7/6 and I have another update.....
after going back and forth with this buyer, I figured it wasn't worth the hassle and I would just pay the shipping (like I stated before, it was cheap - although I know it's the principle and she really should pay it).....so I sent her a message telling her I would pay for the shipping and that if possible, could she at least send a few cents or so, just so I receive a payment to paypal which enables me to print the new label with her new address.......
Well, I never heard back from her, so I refunded her the payment today (less the shipping fees) and sent her a message explaining why I sent refund.
I have a feeling that my first negative ever is coming...........
I know we cannot leave neg. fb for buyers, but are we allowed to reply if they leave us a negative??

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: BUYER SENT A MESSAGE ASKING ME TO RE-SHIP THE SAME ENVELOPE
I COPIED AND PASTED WHAT SHE WROTE:
Just resend the package out with the correct address on it. I haven't had a problem with anyone else reshipping the same packages originally sent out.

CAN I DO THIS? I AM ASSUMING THAT I CANNOT

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ANOTHER UPDATE: 6/26 - I ASKED HER TO PAY THE SHIPPING. THIS IS WHAT SHE SAID (COPIED AND PASTED)
I have yet to have to repay for shipping on items that have been sent back. I have received 3 other packages from fellow ebay sellers that I have experienced the same shipping issues and they have not asked nor have to repay shipping when sending the item to the correct address.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If an item comes back with a sticker that says "attempted not known" and I need to reship, am I right in assuming that the buyer should pay shipping the second time?

Here's what happened:

auction ended 5/29
receive a message from buyer on 6/3 that she is going out of town and will make payment on 6/6
NOT A PROBLEM FOR ME........

FAST FORWARD....

She makes payment as promised - I print label and ship.....

she then sends a message saying this: (copied and pasted)
I just received notification that the item is being shipped to the wrong address. The correct suite number should be 201 (which is listed correctly on the Ebay shipping address). I do not understand where PayPal gets the wrong suite number from, but I am afraid that the package may come back to you because of this problem. I will try and keep my eyes open for it, the office is right next door so hopefully I can catch it in time. If not I will let you know!

Anyway - it was returned. ( I thought that maybe since the office was next door, she would go and tell them that she is expecting a package and for them to hold it for her.)

Maybe she does intend to pay (haven't emailed her yet to tell her that it was returned), but how do I approach the subject and ask if she intends to do so.......I mean, it isn't her fault either if paypal has the wrong address. Should we split it, or what????

Anyone have advice on this??

Thanks!!

The buyer would be the one to give her address to PayPal and that would be the confirmed address. Even if she told you the suite number was wrong and you changed it then the address would come up as not confirmed and you would not be covered by PayPal. She's the one that has to change her address AND confirm it with PayPal. You are only able to use the address she gives to PayPal.

I would expect her to pay shipping again, it's not your fault you had the incorrect address.

hiya

true enough its the buyers responsibility and they shoudl pay
however how much was the item compared to the shipping ?

if you made 40 and its only 5 to ship
then id offer the good will of a good business person and ship it
as fast as i can CONFIRM an address.

as to notifing the customer
id do that right away with

hi just got back your package
it says .......
how woudl you like to go forward ?
i can refund your auction price (notshipping)
or if you like i can send you an invoice for the postage
and reship . this will also give you an oppurtunity to correct your address
with paypal ......

good luck

It is her error so she should be responsible. I f she doesn't want to pay, refund her payment minus the shipping cost.

If it's USPS, the only delivery conf info will be the ZIP code anyway, so you should be OK.

Just have buyer pay shipping again since it's their problem that caused the return.

From what she wrote, I don't think she wants to pay the shipping I think she just wants me to resend with new address, but with the same old postage....

The reason I say this is because I mentioned "shipping costs" and that is when she said to just reship in same package.....

Postage was pretty cheap - I might just go ahead and pay for it and ship........I am feeling generous today....LOL

That's your choice.

Since you are changing address, USPS should require new postage,

Make her pay for the shipping - in her own words she states "I haven't had a problem with anyone else reshipping the same packages originally sent out." to me this indicates she knew there was a problem with the way the addresss is on the PP account and has not bothered to fix it.

What did you decide to do?

I wrote her an email asking her to pay shipping - will let you know what happens when she gets back to me. She seems very nice and hopefully she won't have a problem with it.....

If she has already had the problem several times, she should have corrected the issue. She sounds likes an idiot. Report her to PayPal as having an invalid address and refund everything except for the shipping. Be done with her.

Call Paypal

Hours of service:
4:00 AM PST to 10:00 PM PST Monday through Friday
6:00 AM PST to 8:00 PM PST Saturday and Sunday

For general PayPal account inquiries, please call us toll-free at:
1-888-221-1161.

Write her:

Dear buyer.

I simply cannot understand why you haven't corrected your Paypal shipping address after having several of your purchases returned to the seller by USPS.

Since the problem wasn't theirs, USPS will not try a second delivery without being paid again for postage. In addition, Paypal seller protection requires me to ship to the confirmed address they supply on the payment notification. Changing the address will void seller protection for this shipment.

Your payment has been refunded less the shipping charge wasted because of the incorrect address. The auction is now canceled, and I trust you will understand why I no longer wish to complete the transaction.

You may want to correct your address with Paypal to avoid similar issues in the future.

Seller.

did you check the ebay address and the paypal address to see if they are the same. I would just fix the address and resend it with the postage on it already since that is what she said to do. Wouldn't it go to her postage due. Or it will just be returned to you again.

You have it in writing that she is aware of this. I would not lay out anymore money. If it comes back then she will have not choice but to pay you in order to get her package.

If the address was confirmed with PayPal, don't you have some protection? Can't you file a claim against her?

Also, if she does leave neg feedback, yes there is an area on your feedback where you can respond. She sounds so flaky. Like the other posters mentioned, she clearly knew she had a problem with her address before she submitted payment. She could have mentioned something in the instructions box.

You may respond if she leaves a neg.

Also, ebay said they'd be attentive to reports of buyer misconduct and bad feedback from this misconduct. Report the buyer for misconduct if she negs you.
