I "tracked" a USPS package and it says Status: Arrival at Unit and lists my city and zip. Does this usually mean it is out for delivery? Usually I don't care, but we're leaving town this evening and it is something I'm hoping to take with us.

My guess would be that if it isn't out for delivery today it will be by tomorrow. It still may be going through the sorting processess and if your postman has already gotten his deliveries for today, then it may go out tomorrow. If you don't get it in the mail today, go to your Post Office and they can sometimes pull the package for you and give it to you there.
I had a similar situatation where we were going on vacation and I really needed and box that showed it was at my Post office, but my postman did not have it. I went up to the PO and there were able to go in the back and get it and give it to me.
