Selling Stuff...

I was wondering if anyone here has any success either with selling stuff on Craigslist, or Ebay. I just haven't seemed to figure it out yet, how to get your pictures on it, etc. I have a whole garage full of stuff that I'm fighting taking to Goodwill, or having a yard sale (So much work) or trying to sell it online. I could really use the money, so I would feel kinda silly giving it away. I think I need to get a new digital camera, because the port thing that you hook up to the computer has been long gone. So I have no idea how to get pictures up. I know, I am way technically challenged...........remember I am the one that was locked out of my microwave! So what do yall think? Thanks, Donna

Yes I have had success. Here is what I suggest. First take out all your stuff and if you can make sets. I put organzing things together, shoes together, etc. Take pictures of every item. Take group pictures for the sets but take individual ones as people will email and ask to see it by itself.
Price things higher than you want and post on every post that you are willing to negotiate prices and for them to check your other items. I post a big posting "check out all my items" then link them to my page using my cell phone number in the search box. Sign up for a free creaigslist account you won't have to respond to emails to post nor save them to delete or edit.
Put both a phone number and an email link as there are people who will not respond to ads with only a number and others to only an email.
Make the stuff sound good: Get organized now! sounds better than organzing stuff for sale. Stylish Union Bay purses sounds better than two used purses.
You get it.
And send a link to your page around to local people you know or put on your local bulletin a list of prices and a phone number.
I have had great luck this week!
PM me and I will link you to my page so you can see how I do it. And don't despair better luck on weekends and it might take a few weeks to sell stuff.

You need to look at Ebay and sees what sells. Putting clothes in a lot (of 3 or more) is always a good enticer since buyer save a lot on shipping. Personally, I do not think shoes sell well at all, but maybe if they are new they will go.

Vintage things seem to do well. I recently listed some vintage toys and couldn't believe how many watchers there were.

I'm not much of a seller, so I don't have much else to offer. It's alot of work taking pics, writing descriptions, listing the items. Then, there's the dreaded packing and going to the post office.

I would say take one box at a time, don't think of it as a whole garage full, it doesn't seem possible then. Take a box, pick one thing and look up completed auctions on Ebay using the advanced search button. If they are mostly green and it's making enough money to be worth your time, it's something listable. And just try to do say 2 auctions in a week.

If it is something big and heavy, or hard to pack and breakable then maybe Craigslist would be better so someone local can come pick it up. Always think of the shipping end of it.

By taking little steps in the right direction maybe it won't seem overwhelming and difficult. We are always here to help too!!

I WISH I had a garage full of stuff, it's always a battle to find things to list for me.

Good luck!

Oh my, I have seen some used shoes go for a LOT of money on ebay!

If you say they are stinky and well worn, well...you will find you are getting $40 for pair of shoes you might have only spent $9 on!!

It's sick, but there are some sellers out there who have made it an art..LOL Smelly art. LOL *shudders*

The shoes or the buyers? Really, I'd rather not have either. LOL
