since i put insurance on the packages, the reciever needs to sign for them? or possible the two different people cant take packages at their addresses? heh

If it is over $50, a signature is required.

Insured isn't signed for unless it's over $200. Under $200 and it's just scanned when delivered.
The procedure on this changed last year.
How large are the pkgs? If they are too big for them to go inside the mailbox, There is supposed to be a notice left instead of leaving the pkg on the porch, etc (although many carriers leave the pkg if they can leave it in a safe location).

G1000 is on a distinguished road
A couple other thoughts:

It might depend on where they live - if they are in a city area, they might have only an in the door mail slot, which probably wouldn't fit any kind of box.
Also, if it tended to be a higher crime area, they probably wouldn't want to leave it outside.
