On May 22, I shipped an item in a Priority Flat Rate envelope to Hungary. The person started contacting me in June saying it never arrived. When I click the bar code number, it only says that I notified the carrier I would have a package to ship (or whatever it says-something close to that). Well today, it still says the same thing...So it almost looks like I never shipped it. No PO has scanned at all. So I tell the person I will find out what I can...I do'nt want a Paypal dispute filed where I'm going to be out or Neg. FB...So I dig out my 1/2 of the label (I print my own). Take it to my PO...She tries to look it up and it comes up invalid for her...She thinks it is because I printed it-She can't see it. So she gives me the 800#...Call them....I'm now told that even tho it is Priority International...it is not trackable, traceable, or insurable...So basically that person don't know where it is and neither do I... I asked so what is the code for they say Customs...Not a tracking #. Not calling my buyer a liar...but if they know that it isn't traceable...how do I know they didnt' get it? (I have had other people do that to me...When I sometimes have to send seperate invoices--people will email and say where is 'this piece' --usually an item on the other invoice that the label was not printed thru--but their package is delivered and they think you are stupid...when i shipped all items in 1 shipment--when I tell them that, I never get a return email cause then they know you found them out.). If they file a dispute...I'm out the item, shipping, and the money they paid me...how is that fair? What can I do? I'm still in friendly contact with the buyer. Why is the USPS a bunch of idiots? I really need help...I'm about to stop selling Internationally because of items "not" getting to where they are supposed to be. HELP!1 |

It is difficult to ship internationally. Unless you want to charge a lot for shipping, you have no proof of receipt and can easily be taken advantage of by a buyer. When I have shipped internationally, I do not take PayPal.

If they funded with a credit card and do a chargeback, they will get a full refund from Paypal and you will be asked to reimburse Paypal. You have no seller protection for most international shipping. Please review the Paypal seller protection policy and decide if the risk is acceptable to you. |

It may also be delayed in their country's customs. Was it an item that is legal to ship into Hungary? Did you follow all of the rules for that country? Some countries don't have very honest customs officials and packages have been known to disappear.

Flat Rate Priority Mail Envelope International is the one item that is not trackable. I have had bad luck with countries like Hungary, Italy and Brazil. If you need tracking, you can send it via Flat Rate Express Mail envelope, it's twice as much money, but it's trackable and much faster. sorry for your bad luck, you probably will be out of the product, the shipping and will have to refund the whole amount, even though you have proof that you printed out a label with the postage amount. Dont' know why Paypal gives that money back too. that really stinks... as a seller you have no recourse when shipping with this method. |

Anytime you print out your labels via your own computer the Postal Service will only scan when it hits its destination. I use to beg the clerk at my local PO to scan my packages when I dropped them off but no they get snooty about it because they figure why do extra work. I run an ebay store and I have trouble with issues like this regularly. Its an occupational hazard that is way one sided, especially when it comes to situation like this. Just remember in the end though, you still have the evidence that Paypal requires for proof of shipment, electronically notifying the USPS is substantial evidence that Paypal does hold in the highest regards when they investigate a case. Although it does happen, more people than not will not take the time to fake a shipping transaction and lose money that way either...thieves are too stingy...lol. Hope things go ok! thrifster |
