For those of you that sell mostly, is the economy affecting your sales? I am mostly a buyer, but do sell occasionally, so can't speak from experience. I have not been buying much at all the past couple of months.

Yes, it most definately has affected my sales! I am a very small time seller though, I only sell about $100 a month and small items from around the house, books, clothes, things like that, over the past TWO months my sales have been under $10 total for the TWO months and I have sold two items. So normally I would have sold around $200 and I have sold $10, luckily we don't rely on this for income, but it is extra money. at the same time, I have only bought one thing off Ebay the whole summer also and it was a book for $1.86 + postage, so because I am not making any money I am not buying anything extra either. They are having a selling special this week so I think I am going to list some things and see what happens.

I'm doing surprisingly well. I don't list much either but I seem to be selling everything I list and I'm getting the price I want if not more. I was offered free listing for 5 items expiring at the end of June. At that time I was also offered free shipping up to $10 value each on 3 purchases or wins. I took advantage of both.

I am finding the falling cost of the dollar has made international buyers more common as well. I ship mostly through USPS flat rate boxes (which can be used internationally) and a lot of the things I sell lately have gone international.

Ebay is hurting bad. They are offering discount coupons to us every few weeks.

I got the 10% off one today, but what's 10% on a $10 purchase, not really much of an incentive to spend money I don't really need to spend.

I thought things would get busier with the gas prices and people starting to go back to school, and I am doing ok, but not great. I also don't shop much in the summer so I do a lot of relists, so that does have something to do with it I guess.

The true test for me is the fall and winter, I usually sell out of almost everything I have in stock by the beginning of December and have to start scrounging through the house for more stuff. Lets hope that happens again this year.

My auctions are always painfully slow in the summer, so hard to tell if the economy is to blame. If it continues to be slow in Sept and Oct, then I do think the economy may be partly to blame. But I also think eBay is to blame with all of their fee increases and changes to feedback, etc.
