This stinks! UPDATE

I purchased perfume on ebay (Vera Wang Princess) as a gift for my daughter. I received it quickly, wrapped it and then stupidly left positive feedback. When my daughter opened it, although it was new and sealed, it was obviously not the real thing. The color was wrong (dark blue when it should have been a light purple) and the smell was awful. I know what it should look and smell like since I've purchased it many times before at different department stores. I wrote to the seller, but haven't gotten a reply. I also sent an email to ebay's customer support. Does anyone have any ideas on how this might be resolved? Is there a way to retract my feedback? Will I get my money back? By the way, I used paypal. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

UPDATE: Paypal just notified me that the seller has given me a full refund including shipping. I think it's pretty amazing how quickly he responded to the claim, considering that he never answered my emails. I hope that ebay takes some kind of action too since the fragrances are counterfeit. Thanks again for all your help, fellow my couponers! Hopefully in the fall I'll have the chance to change my feedback to a negative.

You cannot retract your feedback, but you can put in a claim with Paypal.

Quote:
Item not received or significantly not as described process
If you have paid for an item, but didn’t receive it, or you paid for and received an item, but it was significantly different from the item description. Note: If you paid for your item with PayPal, you'll be taken automatically to PayPal to file a PayPal Buyer Protection claim.
On this page - there is a link to report the seller to eBay for selling counterfeit (knock-off) items.

Thanks for the information, Mary. As you suggested, I just reported the counterfeit item to ebay and got the seller's contact information. I tried to call him but (big surprise) his phone is not accepting calls. I also tried to open a dispute with PayPal, but it said I'd have to wait for one more day (too soon, I guess.) I appreciate your advice - it was a lot of help.

You can also add a follow-up comment to the feedback indicating it was not real.

Here is a link to go the reply or follow-up (you will probably get a prompt to log in if you are not already)

You can click on Follow-up ---- Make sure you use some **** or !!!! or something like that to get people's attention or they'll miss your follow-up when reviewing the feedback.

OH, and PS - eBay has posted this - so when it becomes available you can go back and change it to a negative

We will provide buyers with the ability to revise Feedback left for sellers.

Everybody makes mistakes—buyers and sellers alike. Buyers should be able to change Feedback if they make a mistake or if the seller rectifies a problem in a timely manner. Unlike Mutual Feedback Withdrawal, buyers will be able to revise the Feedback, with this new process not just withdraw the rating.

There is a difference in the buyer experience when a buyer receives the item as expected the first time, so, we will limit the use of the tool so that sellers who make fewer mistakes can be differentiated from sellers who make more mistakes.

More detailed information will be available this fall.

I just escalated the dispute to a claim, since the seller has not responded at all and continues to actively sell on ebay. He must make this stuff in his basement, because he's selling at least a bottle a day. My question is this: Will I need to prove that this fragrance is counterfeit, and if so, how would I do that?
