Need a little help with a BIN that was recieved in terrible shape

Hi everyone,
I did a BIN on some neckchief slides for my Webelos. The arrived today and I have to be honest they are for the most part not acceptable in quality to me. Most for the compasses have scratches so bad you can't see the N,S,E,W on it.I have seen 1st hand what they should look like and this is no where near it. I emailed the seller asking if she would resend newer looking ones in replace of the unacceptable ones. But now I'm wondering, who pays for the return shipping if she agree to replace them ? I personally don't feel I should have to fork out 3.00+ in shipping to send them back as I held up my end by paying her only secs after the auction ended...

Please let me know what is the "Norm" on things like this when you buy something and it's not to the standard of being usable.

It depends on the seller. I agree that you should not have to pay but PayPal requires you to send them back at your cost if you do file a complaint.

Thanks DollsRUs,
The seller contacted me and she's willing to resend 7 of them to replace the 7 thats unacceptable. She didn't state anything about me having to resend the 7 back to her , So I'm taking that as I should keep them, But to make sure I'm going to email her and make sure.
Thanks Again for the help.

Really, paypal requires I go out of my way to send back a used item (in my case) that was listed as new!??

Why would I have to go out of my way to buy a shipping envie, drive to the post office and spend money to mail it if I was the one who was "wronged"?

I just emailed my seller that the item I got was not new and listed the reasons why.

So you are saying it's better to work it out with the seller before filing?

If you can, but don't be strung along until your filing time runs out.

You may also have to return other Internet purchases depending on the merchant's policy. Good merchants and ebay sellers do reimburse return shipping if they are at fault.

You can't force this easily and it's a risk you take not buying in a hand-to-hand transaction. Even Walmart won't send someone to your home to pick up a bad item you bought at the store. You have to bring it back to them.
