| ** What you need to know about Black Friday Sales ** Research, Research, Research ---- No later than the Monday before Thanksgiving you should be able to get BF circulars for all stores. Make a game plan! Really Crazy deals will be available in the wee hours of the morning on BF so set your alarm accordingly. A couple days before thanksgiving, go to the store/s you are going to shop at and make a note of the location of the items you want. Keeping in mind, that on BF stores will move items around to get the best attention. Don't be afraid to ask a clerk where certain items will be located on BF, especially big-ticket items. Be patient and expect to wait in line at the doors, at the register, and even in the store if quantities are limited. Be kind to the clerk/s who might be just a seasonal employee and is being pulled and questioned by several customers who what to know if there are anymore (Insert favorite toy of the season here) in the back storage area. Be kind to your fellow shoppers. I know there can be really pushy, obnoxious, and yes, hateful people out there who would just-as-soon run you over with their cart as look at you...but don't be one of them, you're better than that. If the store is out of the item you want, do not expect to get a rain-check. Most stores will have a note in the sale ads that state, "limited quantities" and/or "in-stock only". Go with a friend, hubby, etc, so you can split up and hit different sections of the store. And #1 suggestion...If, at all possible, DO NOT TAKE SMALL CHILDREN WITH YOU. PRICE MATCHING The major benefits of this are: - Saving time and aggravation by not having to going to multiple stores and fighting the crowds/parking/etc, to get just one or two items per store. - Save money - The store that is doing the price matching may not have the same item on sale as the other store so there will be less competition to get that item (As opposed to going to the store with the advertised sale and hoping you get one of the 10 items they have in stock) Know your store's Price-Matching policy, especially regarding BF sales. If you are interested in getting an item that is only on sale for a specific time period (For example, the Doorbusters that have special pricing from 5am -7am) your store may not price match it, but they would price match items on sale all day. Take the other store's sale circular/s with you. Some stores do not require proof, but... better-safe-than-sorry. It is VERY important that the circular have the price and EXACT model number or UPC info. If the circular only has the store stock number your item may not get price matched because most stores are VERY strict on making sure they are price matching the EXACT item. When you find the item you are looking for, check and double-check to make sure it is the exact same item as the circular has. Tell the clerk BEFORE you start to check-out that you would like price matching.
