Broken Window Syndrome

Have you ever heard of this? Broken Windows Syndrome
I am starting to see more and more of this everyday. We go to the city every once in awhile and I am starting to understand this theory more and more. We see a building in the city, and it has broken windows, trash, and weeds. The building is just a mess. Yet, the next building is perfectly manicured and looking tidy. The trashy building no longer has an owner that cares about that building and neither does the community. The clean building obviously has an owner that does care about his building and his business and the community helps keep that building nice.
But I wonder if this theory does not stop with just buildings. What about people and families. Are the homeless people our broken windows? Are the children in the orphanages broken windows? The people that are in mental institutions just broken windows. What about our soldiers coming home from the war...staying in VA hospitals. Are they broken windows of our govern met? Just souls that people have stopped caring about? Things that need fixed but we assume that it is too big to fix. Then the problem just gets bigger. I wonder what would happen if everyone fixed just one of these " broken windows". Could you imagine what our country would be like?
What if for one day we all decided that we would fix just one window.... How could we fix this window? There are many ways to fix some of these windows. Maybe volunteer at a VA hospital. Write your congressman about how our veterans are treated. Helped a homeless man/woman. Wouldn't it be great if we started to notice these broken windows and start repairing them instead of ignoring them? The more that is broken the more we start to ignore these issues.
If we don't start fixing some of these windows...one day the entire building is going to crumble down and there will be nothing left to fix.
