Well, its the busy time of the yr around here. We have been working our butts off in the garden. So far, the onions, cabbage, green peppers, maters, corn, green beans and squash are all up and doing very well. we have been using water outa our rain barrels to water it every evening.
Sunday the 10th of may, abour 1:30 am, our phone rang. I answered it to hear our daughters voice saying, mom, i fell outa my loft bed and I have hurt my elbow. Then her boyfriend took the phone and said that there was a cop there and he was taking them to the e.r. she is away at college and the cop was their only means to get to the er. I jumped up and started getting dressed and told them we were on the way. Josh said wait till he called us back from the e.r. so we waited. he called and said they would be outa the e.r before we got there and she had broken her elbow. this was the middle of the nite before final exams. so we took off up there and found our daughter who dont even take aleve, stoned outa her mind on pain meds. she was loopy as loopy can be. she took her finals that day cause she couldnt get outa them unless she was admited to the hospital. I loaded up her stuff and basically dumped it into the living room of her new apartment and brought her home. we went to the bone dr on thur and she had surgrey on fri may 9th to put the peices of her elbow back together. she is home with us now and will be here till at least the 23rd when she goes back to the dr about getting a cast put on and the huge brace taken off. she is doing very well now since we got the pain meds outa her . she was really nuts for a few days. i havent worked in 2 weeks but thats ok. i have like 3 months of sick time saved up. thats the good part of my job. while i have been off, we have been working around the yard. its looking sooo pretty with all the azalias, iris, daffs blooming. i just wish with the price of gas, we didnt have over 5 acres to mow! but I am fillin it up quickly with flowers that I have been getting for free along the sides of the roads I travel for work. so that helps alot.
we have started putting up wood for this winter. with gas prices, the heating oil will be pretty high so we are plannng to use the wood stove more this winter and I will be cooking on it again. i miss that in the summer. I am getting 4 gal of strawberries tomorrow to put up. will freeze them till cold weather then make jelly on the wood stove. keeps from heating the house up in the summer making it. also am gonna make some cobblers out of them too. the plums are hanging full so will be selling them as soon as they get ripe. every penny helps. took the change can to the bank last friday cause it was full and added another 200.00 to the savings account from it. thats always nice. am stockpiling money just in case booboo's gets laid off. am hopeing that dont happen but with everything the way it is now, no telling. the medical field dont lay off thank god so I think i am pretty safe with my job.
ok. fingers are all wore out now. so just a little update on my boring life.
