Take Me Out To The BallGame....

Posted 08-09-2007 at 07:00 AM by mycoupons

........ Take me out to the crowd. Buy me some hotdogs or cracker jacks. I don't care if I ever come back. Let's root, root, root, for the home team!

Oh Hi there!
I love that song! Sorry about not having household tips today, but so many exciting things happening this week in that All American sport of baseball that I just had to write about it!
First, Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees became the youngest player in major league baseball history to hit 500 home runs! He surpassed Jimmie Foxx as the youngest player to reach 500. Go Alex and NY Yankees! Sorry all, I have to go with the Yanks, as most of my family is from the Big Apple.
Alex Rodriguez also became the third player to hit 500 as a Yankee . Babe Ruth did it in Cleveland on Aug. 11, 1929, and Mickey Mantle against Baltimore on May 14, 1967. Alex's accomplishment was great as it made him the 22nd player to reach this mark, the second this season behind Frank Thomas . Rodriguez now leads the majors with 36 home runs this season, one more than he hit last year.
Then of course, this past Tuesday night August 7th! Wow-wow-wow! San Francisco Giants Barry Bonds surpassed Hank Aaron's home run record, hitting No. 756, the most ever! Breaking Hank Aaron's 33-year-old record, he set the major-league career record for home runs. He connected on a 3-2 pitch from Washington's Mike Bacsik in the fifth inning to make his historic home run in San Fran!
The 2007 season will hopefully continue to give us great moments such as these so far: Houston's Craig Biggio reaching 3,000 hits, N.Y. Mets' Tom Glavine getting his 300th win this past Sunday and of course Alex Rodriguez being the youngest player to reach 500 and Barry Bonds now wearing his crown of being the home run king!
I wish I was in those bleachers catching either A-Rod's or Bond's record breaking baseballs. Can you imagine what they are worth? Wow-wow-wow those lucky people who caught them! I believe in Bonds' historic hit, it was a 21 year college student from NY happening to visit San Fran, who caught that baseball. Rodriguez's ball was caught by 29-year-old Walter Kowalczyk from the NY area.
