You Ain't Nothing But A Hound Dog.....

You ain't nothing but a hound dog, crying all the time. You ain't nothing but a hound dog, crying all the time.
Oh hi there! I'm remembering Elvis. This year marks the 30th anniversary of his passing - August 16th.

Thirty years after Elvis Presley left the building for the last time, people are still all shook up over the King of rock and roll and the loss of him.
When Elvis first appeared on the music scene he was considered very shocking at the time with his oh so gyrating hips and sultry voice, topping the charts with so many hits such as Love Me Tender, Jailhouse Rock, Viva Las Vegas, Return To Sender, Blue Suede Shoes, Heartbreak Hotel. Not to mention 31 movies too!
His music styles ranged from country, rockabilly, gospel, blues to of course music that turned out to be called rock. He melded popular music and rhythm & blues into a brand new musical genre.
I remember when I was a child, every time Elvis Presley was on television, my mother and her sisters were glued to the tube and swooning. LOL! My father loved the song You Ain't Nothing But A Hound Dog and he could often be heard singing it around our home. Both of my parents favorite Elvis movie was Viva Las Vegas.
Elvis was still hot even when I was in my early teens, though I had no appreciation for his music at the time and was more tuned into Jimi Hendrix, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Led Zepplin, Jethro Tull and Black Sabbath, many women still swooned over Elvis. However, as I grew older and myself now a musician, I started to appreciate and realize just what Elvis accomplished, opening many doors for many musicians in his time. Musicians such as Fats Domino and Little Richard.
Elvis defined what it meant to be a pop star, he was and still is the king of rock. He introduced rhythm and blues to mainstream America and most of the world. He was the first to truly popularize rock and roll. The late John Lennon once said during an interview "Before Elvis, there was nothing". There is no denying that this man, the King of Rock and Roll, has left his mark on so many.
I remember that sad day in 1977 hearing about the death of Elvis and remember my Mother and her sisters shock and tears. This icon that had passed. The King was dead.
However, in body Elvis no longer lives, but in spirit and song he lives on. Elvis to this day remains the best-selling solo artist of all time with over a billion records sold worldwide. This year thousands of Elvis Presley fans are preparing for a pilgrimage to his former home in Memphis to mark the 30th anniversary of his death.
There is still great interest for Elvis merchandise. Elvis fans can find Elvis memorabilia at such places as ShopElvis.com and HollywoodMegastore.com . One can also find hundreds of rare and collectible Elvis Presley LPs & 45s at RecordsByMail.com
There's even an Elvis radio on Sirius! Elvis Radio is broadcast live and commercial-free exclusively from a studio located at Graceland.
