Who knew that onions, tea, mayonnaise and lemon could be more than just common food & drink found around your home. These items plus more can be used for beauty purposes, specifically hair care. Imagine that! Here are a few thrifty home-made hair care tips:
Want A Red Hair Tone? Simply boil regular brown onion skins in water. Let it cool, then strain. Use it as final rinse when washing your hair. After applying, let it sit in your hair for a few minutes; then dry as normal. Results will not be immediate but should be noticed after 2 or 3 applications.
Want Blonde Hair? Just squeeze a lemon into your hair and brush. Let dry in sun. Do not overdo
Give Your Hair Some Body & Shine.... With Beer! Yes, beer. Right before you do your final rinse, pour flat beer (without the fizz) over hair. Rub in well, then a final rinse.
Remove Hair Dirt & Grease: Add a small amount of baking soda to the shampoo
Tone That Oily Hair! Just mix a tablespoon of malt vinegar in a glass of water. Then add a pinch of salt to. Apply 2 tablespoons of the mixture on your scalp and massage it with your finger tips. Leave it your hair for one hour. Rinse with cool water.
Cure For Dandruff? Mix 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1/2 cup of water. Apply and massage into the scalp. Leave to dry in your hair for a few minutes. Wash hair. Repeat daily until the dandruff disappears, usually within a few days (test a piece of hair first, if it's color treated or tinted)
Hot-Oil Treatment: Pour a 1/4 cup of canola oil in a glass measuring cup. Place the cup in a bowl of hot water, and allow the oil to warm.
Give Dry Hair A Good Conditioning: Take a 1/2 cup of mayonnaise and comb through your damp hair. Cover with a plastic bag, plastic cap or towel. Let sit 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse a few times then shampoo thoroughly.
Keep on saving!
