It Happens Yet Again!

Posted 09-05-2007 at 09:32 AM by mycoupons
It always happens at the most inopportune time, right in the middle of doing something. If it's not one thing going or running out, it's another. ARGH!!
You are cooking on the grill thinking you have enough gas to cook your meal and then WHAM, you go back outside to check the food you're grilling...... it's not cooked and you notice there is no flame. Good going!
How about when you're cooking dinner and you discover that you don't have that ingredient that's needed, that you swore you had? You have to stop everything, scramble around the kitchen to find a substitute for the missing ingredient or better yet, have to run to the store like you're racing at the Daytona 500! Am I the only one? Does this happen to you?
Well it happened to me yet once again, this time... the food processor! Yes, I knew it was getting old, but you always hope it holds out.
I'm the frugal type, not cheap, but frugal. I rarely buy something new unless it's needed. Want not, waste not. I'm the type of person where I don't have a closet full of clothes or 20 pairs of shoes or every appliance that's been created on earth. I buy when it's broken, but the breaking always seems to occur when you happen to be right in the middle of something.
There it is, my poor food processor ....it died and went to appliance heaven the other day right in the middle of preparing a meal. So much for that dinner! The next day began my search of another.
My word, I can't believe the array of choices in food processors one has to pick from. It must be a least 15 years since I purchased my first one. The shock comes at the price tags! WOW! WOW! WOW! You can pay as little as $40 bucks for one and some can go high as a few hundred dollars.
One starts to think and compare, ok this one has super power but a super price tag. Another has a lower amount of power but a smaller price tag. The more power it has, the more the price goes up.
Well I don't need a super powered food processor, I'm so skinny, the thing would probably fling me around the kitchen. Just what I would need! LOL
So, I decided to get a more economical priced processor, a value brand that had less power. A Hamilton Beach ChefPrep food processor and it only cost me $50 buckaroos. I love it! This 10 cup food processor slices, shreds, chops, packed with 500 watts of power, which is enough for me.... and the bowl and the blade are dishwasher-safe to boot!

The model number on this value brand baby is 70610 and I purchased it at my local Wal-Mart.
If you're in need of a new food processor, I would definitely recommend this product. It has just the right amount of power for that normal kitchen "chef" and the price can't be beat.
You can buy this processor at Wal-Mart's online store as well, though right now it shows temporarily out of stock
Amazon.com also offers the Hamilton Beach ChefPrep food processor 70610 for $49.99 with free super saver shipping
Here's to my new food processor!
Keep on saving!
Annie~
