It's not just for breakfast anymore!

My heart pounding, sweat beads forming on my brow, I stared into the toilet at the brown, murky liquid. My mind checked off all possible offenders- My husband was at work, my daughter was at school, the cat was sprawled on my pillow, in the exact same position I'd left him last Tuesday. My son, Anthony is only 21 months old. Could he have picked TODAY to remove his button up pajamas, tear off the duct tape that we use to keep his diaper on, and potty trained HIMSELF?

Logic took over and I realized I was staring at something that did not come from man or beast. Then I saw it. The empty can of Diet Coke, tossed on the floor like an after-thought. My offspring has taken a fancy to the potty. He has realized that anything and everything within his grasp is fair game. Dad's cellphone? Sure! Mommy's book? Why not! Of course, the notion of what SHOULD go in the potty is beyond his grasp. I have the sneaking suspicion he will be perfectly content with me changing his diapers well into his freshman year of college.

" He poured a coke in the toilet?!!" My husband said on the phone minutes later. This husband of mine has a bad habit of leaving half-consumed Diet Cokes well within reach.

I grabbed the toilet brush, gave it a once over and flushed. I almost had to shield my eyes from the sight of gleaming clean porcelain. It had actually CLEANED the toilet. Not just 'The guys are coming over to watch the game clean', but 'My mom is visiting for a week, clean.'

Gone were the hard water stains. Never to be seen again was the blue ring that has taunted me and laughed in the face of every commercial cleaner on the market.

My elation at the discovery that Diet Coke cleaned the toilet better than anything I have ever used was immediately overshadowed with the realization that even on a good day, I consume no less than three cans of the stuff.

Directions:

1 can of dark soda - the clear ones don't work as well.

1 toilet brush

Empty can of soda into the toilet. Let it sit 10-15 minutes. Brush & Flush!

Until me meet again,
