Mother's Day

Posted 05-11-2007 at 07:31 AM by queenofcoupons
Sunday is Mother's Day.. the day we celebrate the mothers in our lives. For some of us, our mothers aren't around us anymore, whether that be by choice or by death. For me it is both. My mother choose to end her life in 1990. Don't feel sorry for me, that is not what this is about. This is about celebrating the mothers in our lives. If my mom had not chosen to end her life she still wouldn't be part of my life. My mother choose other things in her life that were more important to her than her children. Do I tell you this to make you sad? Feel sorry for me? NO~ I tell you this so you can know how truly wornderful my life is.
I have a wonderful 'mother' in my life. She has been there through thick and thin.. through marriage, seperations (no divorce), childbirth and medical emergencies. She is one of my best friends and someone I know I can count on in a pinch. She is happy when I get a job, save money at CVS and when I get my house clean. She was there holding my hand when the love of my life was in life altering surgery. She is always willing to do whatever she can for me and my family. She comes over ever Sunday evening for dinner, often times bringing something with her... (wish she wouldn't). Also she is one of the only people outside of my husband to see my underwear (calm down, I mean she has done my laundry). She is not just my friend, she is one of my best friends. She loves my children and listens to my daughter tell about her day in their daily phone call. She knows that my son is special, and not only in the ways he learns, but how he really is. She loves me for who I am, what I am and who I will become. She's one of the people I could call at 3 am with a bad dream and know she wouldn't care that it was so 'early'. She eagerly listens to me rant and rave about schools, doctors and life in general. She happily sits down and listens to my musically talented daughter play her clarinet and does the same for my muscially CHALLENGED flute playing son. She does so with joy and fun on her face. She is such a blessing in my life.. who is she you ask? She is 'HIS" mother.. that is right.. I speak of my beloved mother in law... She is one in a milion. She and I don't always agree on everything 100% but I know that even if we disagree she will always love me. That is wonderful. God has brought this wonderful lady into my life via my marriage to her son. When most people complain about their mother in law I bask in her love and acceptance. She is one in a million literally! I don't know of another person like her. God is number one in her life, followed by family and then her job. She has her priorities right and she is what I want to be when I 'grow up'. Because for the last 16 years she isn't just "HIS" mother, she is also mine... she is the mother I have always wanted and needed. She's my mom! So on this Sunday when all others are begruntledly celebrating Mother's day with their inlaws, I will be in the only place that I really want to be.. in the same place as my mother in law celebrating the day with her. I love you mom.. and even though you gave birth to my husband you are my mom too!
Go hug your mom, go love you mom and be happy. Celebrate mothers day with whomever you choose but celebrate love on Sunday. Because of the love of a woman you are here, she choose to carry you in her womb to give you life. Whether that same mother is still in your life or not, Sunday is a day for celebration of life.
God bless all the mothers of the world!
