Summer Break
Posted 05-20-2007 at 09:39 PM by tag1114
Ok, who's ready for school to be out? ME ME ME!! I wake up around 5:30 each morning, shower, dress, do my hair and make up and get my girls up for school around 6:00. They're in 1st and 3rd grades(for a few more days)and school starts at 7:15. Isn't that too early for such young kids? So, we're anxious to sleep a little later in the mornings, stay up a little later at night and be entertained by things other than homework, science fair projects, field trips and 8 year old girl gossip. I went to Michaels today and picked up a few inexpensive project items for them. The girls will also sign up for the summer reading program at the library. We'll go to the library once a week for that. They always enjoy it. We're also planning a little party with a few of their friends about a week and a half after school's out. (by the way, school's out Thurs. the 24th) We have a slip 'n slide, a water sprinkler, a pinata, snow cone machine, trampoline, 4 wheeler and pin the tail on the donkey for the party. My girls are so anxious and excited for it. So am I! I've also promised that once a week the girls can cook dinner for us. They both love to cook or help cook. My oldest, (will be 9 in June) loves to cook and says she wants to be a professional chef when she grows up. I realize that may change as it has many times. When she was around 2, her little sister was born and she had gone on almost every doctor's appointment with me when I was pregnant, so she decided she would be a "baby doctor" (her words, not mine). At around age 4 she wanted to work at McDonalds. I really liked her first goal better! Around age 5 she wanted to work at the little market down the street from our house. Again, I kept referring her to the times she wanted to be a doctor, LOL. About a year ago she said she wanted to be a stay at home mom like me. Now while I love my job, I want her to have something else to fall back on, just in case this stay at home mom gig doesn't work out!! So maybe on summer break, I'll encourage the idea of being a doctor again. A mom can hope and dream, right? And if summer ends before I convince her that she wants to be a doctor then I'll just have to be happy with the time we had together!
I hope you're all looking forward to school being out as much as I am. But like I posted elsewhere, ask me on June 1st if I still feel the same, LOL.
