Question Anyone here suffer from foot or toe pain kindly share tia

As I know the older I get I am 46 I am finding many changes with my body. However besides having to wear glasses, I have noticed lately I have not been able to wear some of the shoes I have . Also some of the shoes I have I can only wear for short periods. Another thing I have noticed on my right foot and my big toe I have pain and a small tiny bump and when I touch it , it hurts. Also I have noticed it is starting to slighty turn. Now many older people I notice have suffered from both of their big toes growing sideways..Also I do know some ladies at work and 2 cousins of mine who had the same problem only theirs was worse. They decided to get it operated on and all complained that the recovery and pain was long and hard and very painful and some even said I would never do it again. So I am asking anyone here does anyone else have the same problems. Is there anything I can do to prevent the toe from going sideways. My mom suggested I go to the foot doctor which I will do. However I wanted to ask some advice here. Thanks in advance for any help.. Peace. Catherine

My foot doctor says that as you get older your foot spreads.

You want to know what you can do to keep your toe from going sideways? Get some toe spacers.

BTW, it sounds like it could be a bunion.

I use those toe spacers. They are so soft you can barely tell you are wearing them. Have you thought about going to prosthetic place and getting your feet measured and get some custom made insoles? I do that once a year.. they are great! My feet never felt so comfy!

You have a bunion. You need to be careful about the shoes that you wear. The surest way to screw up your feet is to wear heels.

You do not need spacers; you can get pads to go over the bunion which will help you to avoid further irritation.

Sounds like bunions to me too. My Mom had surgery and was glad she did. Same with a coworker. Go to a podiatrist and see she s/he has to say about it. Maybe yours isn't severe enough to require surgery, but the doctor may have suggestions on how to prevent it from getting worse. Heels definitely aggravate bunions.

Sounds like you have what my dh has. At first our primary care doctor said it was arthritis and he was given medication. Then they took an x-ray and he went to a specialist. Turns out it is a bunion. He's going to have surgery on it next month.

Red face

Thanks ladies I went to the foot doctor today and yes I have a bunion my right big toe and actually it is small at this point so she suggested I wear the pads for now and wider shoes. She also told me that I also have a very tiny one growing on my left big toe. I have noticed also that close in toes have become wider . So any shoes I wear that are closed in I have to try to purchase a wider width, the problem also was that I have extremely narrow feet however because of the bunions my shoes have grown on both sides. She also said if it gets worse to come back and that perhaps she would try to shave the bunions has anyone here had this done. Kindly share and again thanks so much.. Peace. Catherine

I had the hammer and chizzle surgery on the bunion and they broke the big toe at the same time and put cork and wire in my large toe. There were two surgeons doing the surgery.
Now my toes are perfectly straight and they are seperated ( I have told my feet are beautiful) lol
I was out of work for nine weeks and never have had any pain since and that was done in 1979.
There is a possibility that it can come back but so far so good.
Would I have the surgery again? YES YES YES.
