Is anyone else completely repulsed by this show? I sat down during the last 15 minutes of the show with my daughter. I think I heard the word sex at least 20 times. Trying to figure out why. Is this really necessary to constantly talk about and have the plot skirt around the subject of sex?

I'm very close to telling my Sophmore-age daughter to not watch this repulsive show anymore.

Can't wait for Glee in September!

Go Glee!!! Secret Life had a good premise but they totally took the low road. We need to write them and tell them that.

I haven't watched yet this season. I watched all last season and have the new episodes on my DVR but haven't had a chance to watch yet...

I haven't watched tonights episode yet. However, last week's show wasn't all that great. I was really disappointed that Grace decided to have sex. This show started out with a bang and ended the season quite well. I wonder if there's new writers? Something has certainly changed and it isn't for the better!!

Sadly, there seem to be a lot of shows aimed at teens, even young teens that center around there sex life. I have had four boys, taught teens and though I am sure it is on their minds more than I want to know about, it isn't all they think or talk about. But if you watch TV, you would think so.

Luckily, my kid is more interested in the golf channel and watching baseball games on TV. I think these shows are aimed at teen girls who now are supposed to think that if they aren't having sex, they just aren't "normal" KWIM? It is sad.

But that's not entirely what the show centered on last season. I believe that's the whole point of why the OP started this thread. The show last season covered a broad range of a teen's life. The show wasn't aimed at teen girls to think they should be having sex. The aim was more about what could happen if teens have sex. There was a good lesson to be learned.

I guess I shouldn't have commented because I was talking about these type of shows in general. There are a ton of them...watch MTV and VH1 as well as Fox channel for programing like I am talking about...but ignore my first post. I have not watched but one of the program the op spoke of. I do not have any teen aged girls who would watch it and my boy is just not interested. Nor am I. I just was commenting on an observation I had about teen programming.

Okay I have watched this show before with my dd Caitlin who is 17 however I never really watched an entire show except for the one last season where she gave birth. If my memory serves me right, I commented on the espisode and said it was not real life they made given birth so easy. Okay fast forward to last nite, I was sitting in the sitting area of my kitchen which is next to our den. I was doing my coupons, anyways my dd Cailtin was watching the show and I also stood up and said Cait how many times are they going to say the word "sex".
Honestly just from hearing it I lost count. I have mixed emotions about the show, while I feel teenagers should be made aware of if they decide to engage in adult suituations, they also should be aware of the outcome like getting pregnant, however just listening to it last nite and hearing that word said over and over it was a bit much. Btw I heard that Molly Ringwald is pregnant is real life and that is why they decided to add it to the show... Peace. Catherine

Too funny ~ I was watching the show last night while DH was puttering around in the kitchen & our office (which is right off the kitchen and shares a wall with our family room). At one point he stops what he is doing and says "gee, do you think they say the word 'sex' enough? Is that all they talk about on that show?"

I enjoyed the show last season but so far the first two episodes have pretty much turned me off.

It's sad that it's gone downhill. It really did start off as an interesting show and they could have done soooo much with it but it's just turning into a selfish, sex obsessed show!

I agree. I thought last season it was a great show. I have the new shows taped but haven't watched them yet.

My sophomore daughter absolutely loves this show. She's gotten me watching it with her. I agree they say the word "sex" too often and I agree it's a little cheesey, but it sure has opened the door for communication between the 2 of us. We've always talked, but with this show, the fact that her cousin got his girlfriend pregnant and the fact that she has a boyfriend now (for 7 months), we have covered everything. I love it.

We have talked about the dynamics of every realtionship on the show, how Ricky doesn't respect Adrienne even though the have sex all the time, the guilt Grace feels now, how Amy's life has changed since she has a baby, the fact that Ashley is not obligated to help out because it's not her baby....all of it. Great topics.

It's just kind of lame this season. I agree there's still good talks to be had about the dynamics of the show. But the story line is just awful. There has to be new writers. Either that or they're having too much fun sex and no time to write good stories!!

This show is getting on my nerves. If I had a dime for every time they said sex I'd be rich. Now what is Adrian going to start screwing Ben? And who is the daddy of Anne's baby? Her ex or the new boyfriend?
