Mark Sanford, Jerk Extraordinaire

Have you read his latest comments -- about how this no mere affair with his mistress, it was a great love? What kind of complete jerk talks about his great love for his mistress when he's supposed to be trying to reconcile with his wife? And, on top of that, apparently there have been multiple women with whom he's behaved badly. Clinton was a cheating dog, but he didn't pretend that he loved those women -- and he darn sure didn't condemn someone else for doing exactly what he himself went out and did.

I think you got it on the nose when you said "jerk". Who goes around responding to their basest desires (then calling it love on top of it all) with no thought to how it affects others?

Who doesn't sometimes feel lust for people other than our partners? Even Jimmy Carter admitted to lusting in his heart. But you are married or committed to someone or civilized for goodness' sake.

Because I live in South Carolina, this has been on my mind. His wife has been interviewed on TV and God love her, she is a class act. She is still a mother and though she has said she would be willing to work things out with her husband if he was willing with the right heart, I don't know if that will happen after his latest comments...or should I say if I was in her shoes, it wouldn't happen at all after his last statements.

Sometimes men think with the wrong head.

I think thast he is in love with the Argentinian newswaoman. He said that he has to try and fall back in love with his wife. She says that he was constantly begging her to let hi go see her in Argentina.

If I were her, I wouldn't be thinking about a reconciliation.

He says that God told him to remain in office.

He is the biggest jerk that I have ever seen.

When I heard what he admitted today, I couldn't help but wonder where Lorena Bobbitt is when you really need her!

Jerk is about the nicest thing I could say about the guy. He said he has had feelings for MANY women, but only had sex with the lady in Argentina.

The things he said were not appropriate to say, really. If not for his own sake or his wife's sake, but, for the sake of his children.

He's a nasty horndog, IMO.

Most men keep their penis down to second or third in command. At least I like to think so. You would think even a complete moron or cretin would know what to say in public and what to keep to himself.

What a tool. Needs to fall in love with his wife again?? Screw that. Send him packing, Jenny Sanford - and the state of SC, too!

I wonder if his soul mate will stay with him once he isn't an important person in the US anymore.

As the governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford never was an important man.

The state is not a major population center. It has some of the highest unemployment in the country. There is virtually no industry; just agriculture and tourism.

I read somewhere that he was a contender for 2012 presidential race. I guess not so much now. Today, the paper said he has decided to stop talking to the press. Thank God. His poor kids. Having all this dragged out in detail. Real detail.

I'm not sure where you got your information.
He had been the Chairman of the Republican Governor's Association and his name was being tossed around as a presidential candidate.

I would think all State Governors are important. I'm glad SC isn't over populated. Makes for easier and friendlier living

I live here in SC. That's where I got my info. There aren't a lot of Republicans left in this country. They are older, white and Southern. He might have fared as well as a presidential candidate as Palin did as a vice presidential candidate.

You can't win with just Republican votes. Mark Sanford is not a bright person. In fact, he's a very odd person.

Bobby Jindal blew his chance with his Mickey Mouse response to the SOTU.

Sen. Ensign, Promisekeepper, blew his chance by having an affair.

Gov. Palin has had scandal after scandal since returning to Alaska.

The only "star" you have left is Pawlenty. You should hope that he isn't seeing someone.

They already know. They've sure seen the survey results.

I didn't say that I didn't like it. SC just doesn't contribute much economically or culturally to the rest of the country. The state is not developed, has no large cities. We have great beaches, but so do many other states.

Sanford, who the GOP had so much hope for, is quite a stupid man. But Sarah Palin never struck me as overly bright.

I am glad SC is a small town State. I have lived in other States, and SC is by far and wide the MOST friendliest place I have ever lived. I give credit for that to the small towns. I have a friend who lives in Canada who has been to SC and he said he never met people so friendly and nice. I think that is more important than money.
But that is just my opinion.
But I will say this about SC... It NEEDS a better education system.

My son was in the 2nd grade when we moved down here. When I enrolled him and dropped him off, I knew that I had a problem. I made sure that we did a lot on weekends and that he always had good books.

At an open house a couple of months later, his teacher asked him which school he liked better. He said, "This one because it's so much easier."

I absolutely agree that the education system needs an overhaul. He did have a good 3rd. grade teacher and a good teacher as a freshman in high school. Middle school was an absolute waste of time.

That's good you helped your son with his education. All my relatives that grew up here and went to school can hardly spell or read. It's awful. I was educated in NC and my family looks down on me thinking I am "highly eductated"

Of all the places that I went to school, I thought that the best systems were Raleigh, NC and Fairfax, Va. We moved here from Raleigh.

I don't know about the whole state of NC. When you get into the rural areas or the coast, the system isn't as rigorous.

I do hope that he steps down, but I don't think any less of your state. So hold your head high and be proud of where you are from.
