Buying car/Registration?

I have something I have been wondering for awhile and wonder if anyone knows? When you go to buy a new car, and they transfer your plate if you are trading. Then on the paper they charge you money for transfering. If you buy a car outright and DO NOT have a car to trade thereby getting a NEW plate, they charge you for that. Do you know which way would be cheaper?

Each state is different. I would call the vehicle registration division in your state and ask them directly.

In this day and age, it's possible you can search on-line and find out more info yet today.
